When it comes to packaging innovations that have revolutionised the industry, grip seal polythene bags are there at the top of the list. One of the major things that are considered in choosing packaging solutions over other options is the convenience offered by an option. The advantages that the packaging offers its contents are another thing that will highly influence one’s decision. Pricing and availability are the other crucial factors that need to be convincing for a particular packaging method to be preferred over another. Grip seal polythene bags pass these tests very well when it comes to particular items.

Grip seal polythene bags are used to package items that do not succumb to shock or compression forces. They do not also package valuable and confidential items. These limitations are due to the design of the packaging. Grip seal polythene bags are made from very tough plastic that is usually transparent. The material is resistant to tear, punctures and abrasion. The bags are fitted with very strong self sealing strips that are used to secure items in the bag/ pouch. The seal is air and moisture resistant.

The polythene material making up the pouch is transparent enabling one to see the contents of the bag unlike in other packages where one has to open them to see inside. This is a good method for packaging items to be displayed on a shelf. The bags are good for storing foodstuffs since they are air and moisture proof.

The seal is one of the major strong points for the bag. The strength and its re-usability make it very convenient for continued use. Packaging materials are usually designed for temporal use and though it may be painful to discard some packaging after their first use, we are forced to due to some limiting factors such as compromised seals which make the entire packaging useless. This is not the case with grip seal polythene bags; the seal can be used as many times as possible with the same efficiency as when the bag is first used.

Closing the grip seal polythene bags is not rocket science, neither is it comparable to 1, 2, 3… it is actually simpler and can be compared to swallowing. All one needs to do is snap the two sides of the strip with minimal effort and the contents are rendered air proof! Opening the seal is also easy as it needs minimal effort to open the seal.

In the eyes of the ‘luxury consumer’ packaging plays an essential role in the purchasing process. How would you react if you went to buy the latest perfume or a new MacBook Pro and they came packaged in newspaper and a carrier bag? Even though the product is the same, the majority, if not all consumers would not be happy or appreciate this. Buying luxury items is all about the experience, and this includes the packaging too.
Just because something is branded with being ‘luxury’ doesn’t mean it has to be majorly expensive or over excessive. Some great examples of this can be seen in high end jewelry packaging and Apple. They use minimal packaging but overall still scream out that it is a luxury item.

When it comes down to your business and your packaging, creativeness and innovation  need to shine through, think different. Keeping it simple and engaging the customer is key. Giving the customer that overall experience, and making them feel engaged with the product is essential. This can be from the unwrapping of the paper to opening the origami style packaging inside.

Luxury can still be achieved even with a low budget. Recycled and up-cycled materials can still be used in packaging your products. Its the experience that makes the difference. The creative design and use of these materials will give your packaging a bespoke feel and engage your customer. Unfolding your purchase out of the box is all part of the experience and helps to add value. The overall key is to come up with the most effective and efficient way to engage your potential customers. No matter what the product is that you are selling, give the customer an experience and make sure you match up.

Orla Kiely is a fantastic designer who has created clothing, handbags and all manner of decorated household items. Somehow however it is always her packaging design that I find most refreshing. Especially when she teams up with environmentally friendly cleaning product company Method. This is the second time they have produced wonderful packaging design together and their work only ever seems to get better!

The 'Method' element to the packaging is what gives it the wonderful shape. All of the packaging is designed to have a flattering and attractive shape, quite unlike most other cleaning products and hand washes around today. This attractive shape also makes it nice to use as well as nice to look at and increasing consumer satisfaction is always a surefire way to gain returning sales.
The different mix of patterns and colours matches the scent of the product which gives a coherent feel to the entire range. The classic Orla Kiely designs also seem to reflect the uniqueness of the brand altogether and give them both an elevated status in terms of product and design.
The label that is featured on all products across the range has the iconic Orla Kiely typography and design upon it to leave the consumer in no doubt as to who the designs were created by. The designs themselves have a beautiful tone to them that are entirely different to the usual range of colours used in cleaning and household products.

Not only should you have that Friday feeling but it is also February and you know what that means. Valentines Day. I know we have another 14 days before we get drowned in pink and red but in that time we have to find gifts for our loved one which can be easier said than done. There is some great (and not tacky) stuff to be found out there however and packaging design is a huge part of it.

Not only is this a kickin' gift idea but it's also a fantastic piece of packaging design! The classic Moet shape oozes luxury and quality which is exactly what you want from a valentines gift. The colour scheme has managed to avoid the tacky pink of most valentines products and combined with the gold looks worth the £75 it is priced at. The £75 however does include the pen and two champagne flutes. The gold pen allows you to make the packaging your own with whatever message or image you decide to write or draw. This customisation is far more easily achieved than getting the bottles label printed specially and also means that the message with be in the gift givers handwriting, making it far more personal. The overall design of this exclusive gift is superb and would make a fabulous gift for a loved one.

Pereg is a natural gourmet food company selling high quality spices, ingredients and other small snacks. The packaging redesign across all of their products has been orchestrated by Squat Design, a graphic design company who have worked on packaging design, graphics, animation, marketing, web design and stationary.

These snack crackers are not marketed or designed to join the crowded snack/crisp market. Instead they have been geared towards the creation of other foods. Whether that be appetisers or lunch food. The basic packaging is quite simple with an easy to use, open and re-seal box with an interior bag. The window in the packaging is the same shape as the product giving the consumer an idea of what to expect. The hand drawn images of the ingredients and the high quality images of 'serving suggestions' gives an impression of a high quality luxury product.

The packaging redesign has incorporated Pereg's new logo/typography. The hand written element reinforces the 'family run' company feel and give the consumer more trust in the brand as a whole. The excellent colour, flavour and style association on the front of the packaging also suggests that the company knows what they are doing when it comes to their products giving the consumer further trust in the brand.

How was packaging done generations ago? This article would tackle this question in order to provide us with a brief yet useful information as to how our ancestors all over the planet packaged their things. In other words, we are going to take a little look at history so that we will be able to determine the evolution of the packing materials that we are so familiar today.

Man has already used packaging materials even before the existence of the first civilizations. Indeed, we have always needed to package our things. Surprisingly, the reasons for packaging in the past are substantially the same as our reasons today. The earliest human beings, our history books tell us, were hunter-gatherers. They lacked the knowledge to farm and breed animals so they needed to move from one place to another. As such, they used packing materials. For instance, they dried up leaves in order to protect their food and clothing from insects and from the elements. Basically, dried up leaves were the most common materials used for packing things. Indeed, we can still see the application of leaves in some primitive societies especially in Central America and some parts of Africa.

Of course, in places were leaves do not abound, like the deserts and the polar regions, other materials were used. Archeological evidence prove that some ancient societies in the cold regions made use of animal fur in order to store their food and other belongings. Furs of seals, bears, even foxes are effective skins in order to make food fresh and safe from some wild animals.

In the deserts, they also used animal hide, but there are some regions which make use of other unusual animal skin: snake skin. This is actually pretty understandable and practical. Deserts abound with snakes, and snakes have thick skin in order to protect their bodies from the extremely hot environment. As such, their skins are good storage materials.

With the progression of time, humanity has made use of more complicated storage materials. Of course, we still very much heavily depended on nature to provide us with the basic materials. In Egypt, they have used papyrus not only to record their daily lives, but also to keep their valuables. Reeds were also used a lot, especially because they existed in big numbers throughout the river Nile. Reed was favored because it is extremely sturdy.

Packaging throughout time and throughout the world may have varied, but the core reasons have always been the same.

7 Eleven is a popular food chain in America, they sell food throughout the day including a great selection of coffee and breakfast foods the packaging for which has been re-designed to give them an updated look to better reflect the brand.

The classic 7 Eleven colours and stripes have been turned into something even more iconic with this new design. The outline of the 7 has been made with a combination of green and white stripes along with orange and red ones showing the 11. These stripe designs have been applied across all of their packaging materials from coffee cups and sugar packets to takeout bags and napkins. They have unified their packaging as a recognisable whole which allows consumers to get familiar with their products as well as attracting new consumers with their enticing products surrounded by their highly recognisable packaging. The design by BVD was intended to be simple and represent the brand as a whole without the use of a ton of text and images.

It might be cold outside and a hot drink might be the best thing to help warm you up when you're cold but sometimes it's nice to have something different for a change. This energising iced tea could do just that, especially with packaging like this, designed by Muuca in New York.

Energy drinks are all the rage but often they are associated with chemicals, caffeine and all manner of things that really aren't good for you. Sometimes we all need a little boost but if we want to be nice to our bodies then an energy drink isn't the answer. These 'energy drinks' have, however taken a completely different approach from the product inside to the way the packaging is designed.

Designed to have a healthier set of ingredients these iced teas are full of natural flavours and energy producing elements. The labels and overall look of the packaging get this message across wonderfully. The glass bottles somehow seem nicer and of a higher quality than a metal can and as they have a lid they are re-sealable unlike most energy drinks.

The decoration on the labels is also a lot more delicate than that of an ordinary energy drink. The usual wild, dark and intense imagery found on them is no where to be found here. The natural ingredients have been drawn with bright colours and change depending on the flavour along with the theme colour for that flavour too.  The simple shape of the bottle also gives the idea that these drinks are simple and good for you, which is the whole principle of the brand, Runa.

Why does your business need packaging supplies? Does it, indeed? This is a very important question to ask if you are an amateur businessman. Basically, you have to ask questions like this in order to sort out your priorities. After all, when you are just starting an endeavor, you have to spend only on the most critical ones.

Some of us think that the packing materials are things which we can set aside. Many of us assume that these materials are less important than other things. After all, you can easily send your items in any kind of packing material. So, basically, what are truly important are the items that you sell. However, any successful businessman will tell you that this is not true. As a matter of fact, it is the opposite: the package is just as important as the contents of the package itself.

So, why do you need to have good packing materials? Here is a list of reasons:

First, a good package is tantamount to a good content. If you make use of a packing material, the receiver of the package would gleefully anticipate for the contents of the package. Just imagine receiving a worn package, I do not think you would appreciate it as well. There is a saying that goes “Do not judge a book by its cover.” But we all know that in reality, the cover increases a hundredfold the marketability of a book. The same goes true with your items. Basically, your items, no matter how good they might be, without good package, will not sell like hot pancakes.

Second, your packing materials are, whether you like it or not, your advertising platform. In other words, you can make use of your packing materials in order to spread the name of your company. As such, common sense dictates that you should make your packing materials attractive and unforgettable. In other words, the packing material itself should stick to the minds of your clients. This way, they would want to open your package and they would love to come back for more.

Again, if you have a packing material that is not presentable (because you decide to stick to your belief that your clients would not mind the surface), you would learn in a very bad way that people – being people – always appreciate a good cover. That being said, you need to make sure that your packaging supplies are as great as the very items that you sell. Indeed, your business’ success depends on it.

The bubble wrap is, indeed, one of the most useful inventions of all times. It might sound like an exaggeration, but there is a significant truth to it. Basically, these packaging materials are useful to us in more ways than we can imagine. At home, we can use them to store the things that are of high value. We use these wraps because they are highly versatile and they are very effective in keeping things safe from breakage.

However, the use of these wraps is not limited to their mere usefulness at home. Indeed, the wraps are more handy in a great variety of things. For one, you can use these wraps to play pranks on your friends, siblings, even your pets. Here are some creative stuff you can do to scare the heck out of your loved ones – the two legged and the four-legged alike.

First, you can use the bubble wraps to freak out your younger brother and sister. So what do you need to do? Basically, all you need to do is to prepare a very wide wrap all over the floor of your sister’s bedroom. Of course, you have to do this in the early hours of the morning, before your baby sister dreams of waking up. Once your sister wakes up, still dizzy from a long night of sleep, she will be terribly shocked the moment she steps on the floor. Not only do the bubbles feel weird to the bare skin, the bubbles make popping sounds which are surely going to wake up your still sleepy sister!

The second trick might be a bit more expensive as this would require you to prepare a lot of these wraps. People have always been afraid of heights. Some people who are not, and there are those who do not fear heights, are certainly scared of falling off. Our bodies and our brains are just not programmed to adjust to the deadly pull of gravity. Basically, what you do is lay on the ground a truck-load of these wraps. You should lay it beside a tall structure where you would do the prank. To make it safe for everybody, including the victim, the structure should not be more than 5 meters tall, and the wraps should not be less than a meter thick. The idea is simple: push your friend off the structure so that he falls to the wraps below.

Third is to make use of the wrap to scare your dogs and cats. They would squirm, they would hate all of you, but you would have a good laugh, thanks to the ever-helpful bubble wrap.
